2013 Miles2Give Run Rally in Denver : Dani’s Foundation and the staff and patients at Rocky Mountain Hospital for Children welcomed ultra-runner Landon Cooper and his Miles2Give Team to Denver on Wednesday, May 8 at 10:30 a.m. at a Run Rally for this man and his companions who has made it their mission to run across the country in an effort to raise awareness and funding for sarcoma cancer research. Sarcoma advocates were invited to join in on the celebration which will take place at the entry to the Rocky Mountain Hospital for Children (20th & High Streets in Denver). Cooper began his cross country run on Valentine’s Day. He launched his six-month run across America in California at the base of the Golden Gate Bridge and hopes to conclude his run at the gates of the White House on July 4. “Actually this tour kicked off when I lost a friend to Ewing’s Sarcoma about a year and a half ago,” explains Cooper. “At the time I did not know a lot about sarcoma cancer, but what I knew was that a friend of mine had it and it wasn’t time for her to go.” As a way in which to honor the memory of his friend, Cooper formed Mile2Give, a nonprofit organization that is committed to raising awareness and funding for sarcoma cancer research. With his stop in Denver, Cooper will be partnering with Dani’s Foundation, a local pediatric sarcoma foundation that has been working to raise awareness and funding for the battle against pediatric sarcomas; those rare forms of cancer that continue to affect and take the lives of children and young adults. Cooper is joined by Denver resident John McKay, runner and Miles2Give videographer of the journey and Ryan Priest, runner and Miles2Give Tour Director. Also joining the Miles2Give Team during their visit to the Rocky Mountain Hospital for Children visit will be local Paralympic athlete Lacey Henderson and 6 time pediatric sarcoma survivor Woody Roseland. “We are thrilled to be associated with Landon Cooper and his Miles2Give team and their efforts in the battle against sarcoma cancer,” explains Dani’s Foundation Founder and President Michele Ashby. Ashby lost her daughter Dani Stell (the namesake of Dani’s Foundation) to Ewing’s Sarcoma 14 years ago last month. “We cannot wait another 14 years to make a difference in the battle to end pediatric and adult sarcoma,” exclaims Ashby. “With Landon’s help, we are hopeful that people across the country will become engaged in this effort and join with us and those other foundations that are working to fund the science that will find better treatment protocols for these kids and ultimately find the cause and the cure for these deadly forms of cancer.” Ashby will be on hand to welcome the Miles2Give Team to Denver at the Landon Cooper Run Rally that is planned for 10:30 a.m. at the entry to Rocky Mountain Hospital for Children. 2013 A Night of Fun & Games : Dani’s Foundation hosted A Night of Fun & Games on Tuesday, April 16 at Denver’s PunchBowl Social which is located at 65 Broadway. 2013 STEPS With Pets Walk : Dani’s Foundation, in association with Infinity Park, the Glendale Raptors and the National Honor Society of Brighton High School, is pleased to announce the 2013 edition of STEPS (Stride To End Pediatric Sarcoma) WITH PETS 3K Walk which took place at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 13 at Infinity Park in Glendale. Human and canine walkers were invited to participate in this 3K Walk which will help to raise funds for Dani’s Foundation and their translational research effort which supports those scientists and scientific research projects that are working to find the cause and the cure for human and canine sarcomas; those rare forms of cancer that continue to affect and take the lives of children, young adults and canines. DID YOU KNOW? Cancer treatments span the species and doctors and veterinarians are now collaborating together in comparative oncology studies. • Each year about 6 million of the 65 million pet dogs in the United States will be diagnosed with spontaneous, naturally occurring cancer. Many of these dogs will be seen by veterinary oncologists in private practices or at teaching hospitals, using therapies similar to those used for humans, such as surgery, chemotherapy, radiation therapy and biotherapy. The inclusion of this huge number of dogs suffering from cancer in the study of human cancer is the essence of comparative oncology. Comparative oncologists are presently using naturally occurring cancers to • Understand environmental risk factors for cancer • Examine genetic / familial determinants for cancer predispositions seen in some dog breeds. • Develop and optimize novel cancer and gene imaging systems. • Evaluate novel therapeutic strategies for a variety of cancers. • Add biological relevance to genomic data generated from microarray and other molecular techniques. 2013 Digging for Donna Co-Ed Volleyball Tournament : Many within the Chicago Volleyball Community joined together on Saturday, March 23 to take part in the 10th Annual DIGGING FOR DONNA Co-Ed Volleyball Tournament. This very special event was hosted to honor the memory of Homewood resident Donna Farbak Barker who lost her battle to Ewing’s Sarcoma eight years ago. Proceeds from the 2013 DIGGING FOR DONNA Co-Ed Volleyball Tournament will benefit Dani’s Foundation and the newly established Donna Farbak Barker Ewing’s Sarcoma Research Fund. Donna’s family and friends have come together for the past 10 years to honor this heroic woman who was diagnosed with the rare form of cancer that typically affects children and young adults. The first two years of the event, proceeds were designated to Barker’s care and medical needs. Following her death in 2004, proceeds were designated to a variety of local nonprofit organizations and residents in need. 2012 Rocky Mountain Hold 'Em to Help 'Em Challenge : The first annual Rocky Mountain Hold 'Em to Help 'Em Challenge took place on Tuesday, September 11 at the National Western Stock Show Arena in Denver, CO. About Dani’s Foundation Dani’s Foundation was formed in memory of Dani Stell, an active, bright and social young woman who loved fashion, dancing, school and friends. She aspired to become a fashion designer. Dani was 18 years old when she found a lump on her side. After six months, she was diagnosed with Ewing’s Sarcoma, a rare type of cancer that typically affects children and young adults. By the time of Dani’s diagnosis, the cancer had spread to her lungs. Although she showed no outward symptoms other than the lump on her side, Dani was in critical condition at the time of her diagnosis. She was hospitalized immediately and began an aggressive schedule of treatments, including chemotherapy, radiation, surgeries and a bone marrow transplant. Dani was cancer-free for four months when doctors discovered the disease had returned, this time in her brain. Dani did not fulfill her dream to become a fashion designer. In April 1999, Dani lost her battle with cancer. She was 19 years old. Since its inception, Dani’s Foundation has supported pediatric sarcoma programs and research throughout the nation. Most notably, the Foundation has lent financial support to the research efforts of Dr. Jeffrey Toretsky at the Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center at Georgetown University. The Foundation provided pilot funding to initiate and extend his research into a novel treatment for Ewing’s Sarcoma. Thanks to the funding obtained from Dani’s Foundation and other organizations, Dr. Toretsky is now months away from taking his science from the bench into human clinical trials. Dani's Foundation has also supported research at the CSU Animal Cancer Center in Fort Collins. This translational research will support both canine and pediatric sarcoma patients. Dani’s Foundation is currently working to seek out the work of other scientific investigators who are researching better treatment protocols for all pediatric cancer patients and soliciting grant requests from scientists around the globe who are conducting science that is aimed at finding the cause and the cure for pediatric sarcomas. 2012 Mad Hatter's Ball : The 2nd Annual Mad Hatter's Ball was “The Place To Be” on Saturday, March 24 for its guests who arrived dressed in whimsical attire and sporting fabulous hats at Denver’s Mile High Station. The evening began with the guests being greeted at the front door by the Queen of Hearts and her Army of Cards (portrayed in costume by members of the Brighton High School National Honor Society). Once inside, the guests were directed to the many areas of Wonderland including an amazing silent auction, offering more than 300 items donated by local businesses and individuals; booths of Wonder hosted by CA Brooks, Laura Lozano and Erin McHugh; and a photo booth run by Brian Clements from Castle Rock Photo Booth. At 6:30 p.m., the dinner bell rang and guests were then escorted into the Queen’s Feast Buffet which was hosted by some of Denver’s finest restaurants including Chinook Tavern, Famous Dave’s Legendary Pit Bar-B-Que, Garcia’s Mexican Restaurant, Serioz Denver Pizzeria and Strings Restaurant. The annual Mad Hatter Stage Program began at 8:30 p.m. and was hosted by both DJ Brian Howe and Pediatric Sarcoma Survivor Woody Roseland. A short video was presented which told the story of Dani’s Foundation and their work in the areas of patient support, education and research. Michele Ashby, the Founder and President of Dani's Foundation and the Mother of Daniele Stell (who lost her battle with Ewing's Sarcoma in 1999) welcomed guests to the 2nd Annual Mad Hatter celebration. Ashby thanked everyone for attending – doubling attendance this year - and then took a few minutes to recognize those individuals who assisted with making this year’s event a success including Lynn Simmons, Auction Patron and Chairman; Tim Simmons, Auction Patron; Eric Popoff, Auction Processing Chairman; Amy and Randy Goings, Jason and Shelley Suta and Marc and Kimberly Jefferson, Auction Tabulation Committee members; Glenn Parker, Food Chairman and Martha Simmons, Executive Director and Mad Hatter Event Coordinator. Woody Roseland then recognized the evening’s sponsors including MiNE LLC; Robinson, Waters & O’Dorisio; Forte Advertising; KeyBank and 3rd Avenue Studio. Miss Colorado Diana Dreman was then introduced to share her personal association with cancer and her mother’s battle against the dreaded disease. Dreman commended the work of Dani’s Foundation and she encouraged all guests to become actively involved with Dani’s Foundation and their efforts to fund the research that is working to put an end to pediatric sarcomas; those rare forms of cancer that continue to affect and take the lives of children and young adults. The lights were then dimmed and the music rose for the staging of the annual Fedora Fashion Show. Pediatric Cancer Patients took to the stage wearing amazing creations which were made especially for Dani’s Foundation by local and national artisans. The young models were escorted on to the stage by members of the Denver Bronco Cheerleaders, members of the Glendale Raptor Rugby Team and Walter Davis, Denver Nugget Community Ambassador. Woody Roseland closed out the stage program with a short comedy routine and cancer rap that proved to turn a lighter side to his cancer experience. Roseland served to offer his message of hope, perseverance and positivity which have helped him to stay strong and leads him to inspire so many others as they battle cancer. Following the stage program, guests were treated to sweet treats from Cows Gone Coconut, Happy Cakes and a coffee bar from Boyer's Coffee. The STEPS WITH PETS Walk officially kicks off a year of awareness and fundraising for Dani’s Foundation, the Colorado nonprofit organization that is committed to finding the cause and the cure for pediatric sarcomas, those rare forms of cancer that are affecting and taking the lives of children and young adults. “We are hoping to host hundreds of Coloradoans along with their four-legged friends on April 21,” explains Foundation Founder and President Michele Ashby. “This is a chance for the pediatric sarcoma and canine cancer communities to join together and make a statement in the battle against these horrific childhood and canine diseases; one of which that took the life of my daughter!” Ashby will be joined by many other sarcoma advocates in this Colorado effort to raise awareness and funding for Dani’s Foundation. 2011 Community Education Breakfast : Dani's Foundation hosted its first Community Education Breakfast at the Westin Downtown Denver on September 28, 2011. Over 100 friends of the Foundation and their family and friends attended the program that was designed to educate and update all guests on the work of the Foundation. Featured speakers at the early morning meeting included pediatric sarcoma patients Michael Amidei and Emily Brown, pediatric sarcoma Mothers Patty Robinson and Jodie Dickey, Dani's Foundation Board members Keith Ashby, Michele Ashby and Claudia Cruz, and pediatric sarcoma researchers Dr. Jeffrey Toretsky and James Custis. The event was a huge success for Dani's Foundation, garnering new volunteers and over $85,000 in pledges to support the Campaign to End Pediatric Sarcoma. 2011 Step Up For Cancer : Dani's Foundation was honored to be a part of the 2011 Step Up For Cancer event that was held on August 7, 2011 at Dick Sporting Goods Park in Commerce City, CO. We were one of 40 Colorado cancer organizations that participated in the half-day event which is designed to raise awareness and funding for the Campaign to End Cancer in Colorado. We extend our sincere thanks to each and every person who participated with us in this event to raise funding for Dani's Foundation and our efforts to End Pediatric Sarcoma. 2011 KeyBank Neighbors Make The Difference Day : Dani's Foundation is honored to be one of the Colorado non profit organizations that benefits from KeyBank's "Neighbors Make the Difference" Day. This is the second year that KeyBank employees donate their time to our Foundation. The 2011 event found the KeyBank employees working with Dani's Foundation staff and volunteers in our effort to distribute Pediatric Sarcoma education information to the citizens of Denver. 2011 STEPS : Dani's Foundation was honored to host the 2nd Annual STEP (Stride To End Pediatric Sarcoma) Walk at Infinity Park in Glendale, CO on Saturday, April 2, 2011. The 3K Walk was sponsored by MiNE LLC, Infinity Park, the Glendale Raptors Rugby Team and Denver's Pepsi Cola Botteling. Brighton High School's National Honor Society Club acted as one of the event challengers and worked to involve students from throughout the metro area in this very special event that benefited the Campaign to End Pediatric Sarcoma. Plans are already in the works for the 2012 STEPS Walk and we hope that you will plan to join us as we take the STEPS necessary to End Pediatric Sarcoma.

2011 Mad Hatter's Ball : "We're all mad here!" as quoted from the Cheshire Cat in Alice in Wonderland. And madness was the theme for the Mad Hatter's Ball, a benefit for Dani's Foundation, which was held on May 7th at Denver's Mile High Station. As if taken from the pages of "Alice in Wonderland", the party was staged with wonderful decorations and costumed characters positioned to welcome the guests into Wonderland. Alice, the Mad Hatter, the White Rabbit and the Queen of Hearts were on hand to welcome the guests; who followed the invitation's direction and came attired in wonderful hats and whimsical attire. From the moment they arrived, guests were greeted at the front entrance by the Queen of Hearts and her Army of Cards and the magic continued throughout the affair, culminating with a Flashmob dance, courtesy of 30 dancers from the Rocky Mountain School of Dance. This was indeed a festive party fit for royalty. Guests came to support this grand cause to help in the campaign to end pediatric sarcoma and everyone in attendance was treated to an evening full of madness and mayhem. There was a Queen's Feast cocktail buffet, featuring food from several local restaurants; a wonderland silent auction, featuring over 300 items to choose from; "Booths of Wonder," featuring angel readings, psychometry readings and tarot card readings, fun caricatures and a "White Rabbit" photo booth. The highlight of the evening was the Mad Hatter's Stage Fedora Fashion Show that showcased the support of local sport celebrities who had the pleasure of escorting pediatric patients from The Children's Hospital. Several young ladies sported fine fedoras from Goorin Brothers Hats, along with some creatively designed and decorated hats made especially for the ball by artisans throughout the country. Addressing her "kingdom" was Michele Ashby, president and founder of Dani's Foundation. Dressed as the Queen of Hearts, she truly opened her heart to share the story of her daughter Dani, the namesake of Dani's Foundation. Dani was 18 years old when she was diagnosed with a cancer called Ewing's Sarcoma. Dani lost her battle with cancer in 1999. She was 19 years old. It was through her courage, humor and energy along with the love of her family and friends that Dani's Foundation was created. Through FUNdraising events such as the Mad Hatter's Ball and the generosity of many, Dani's Foundation has become a force in funding research for Ewing's Sarcoma and the other forms of pediatric sarcomas that are affecting and taking the lives of children and young adults. Since its inception, Dani's Foundation has provided over a quarter of a million dollars in funding for innovative research grants and awards. Though Dani's Foundation has always been intent upon finding a cure for Ewing's Sarcoma, it has broadened its scope of services to include research funding for the study of all pediatric sarcomas, works to educate the public on the symptoms of pediatric sarcoma and goes over and above in assisting patients and families who are affected by the diagnosis of these horrific childhood diseases. In closing her portion of the Mad Hatter's program, Michele Ashby invited several parents of pediatric cancer patients onto the stage and encouraged them and their network of family and friends to join with Dani's Foundation in its effort to end pediatric cancer! "We must channel our "madness" to make a change for the children in the days ahead!"

2010 Mile High Miracles : Yes, I now that you feel you are not strong enough. That's what the enemy thinks too. But we're gonna fool them. - Knute Rockne Striving for excellence in the face adversity, finding the best in your self, learning to work within a community and being grateful for the support of others. This describes both the path of a very special football team and the patients, families and medical professionals who work to find the cures and treatments for childhood sarcomas. Some other things they share in common are the joy of triumph whether that’s a fantastic season or a research breakthrough. Both the two hundred pound team captain and the fifty-pound child become leaders, inspire others with hope and evoke courage. And in the case of Norris Weese, 1977 Denver Bronco QB and Dani Stell, succumbing to Ewing's Sarcoma, a rare form of cancer that typically affects children and young adults. Mile High Miracles brought the two together on the evening of March 6, 2010 in the East Club Lounge at Invesco Field at Mile High, as a tribute to the players and coaches of the 1977 Denver Bronco Football Team, and in honor of the memory of Norris Weese. Like a diligent head coach Martha Simmons seemed to be everywhere at once, whether conferring with her team of miraculus volunteers, or making sure that each aspect of the event was forseen. The silent auction tables if laid end to end would surely have reached from goal post to goal post on the gridiron; placards read Entertainment, Travel, Romance, Art, Sports, Childrens, Health and Beauty etc. Literaly hundreds of items for any taste were availble for bidding. From the moment guests arrived they ran a gauntlet of gratitude and welcome from not only Dani’s Foundation volunteers but all of the Invesco Field staff as well. As fans bid on items they were encouraged to partake of the two open bars and hor derves of tiny pizzas, hot dogs and burgers. Football is a sport for big men and the stats indicate that they are getting bigger in stature each year. Football players have a reputation for being big in everything they do, big moves, big voices, big apitites and big hearts. It’s rare to not find an autographed jersy or ball as an auction item at any fundraising event, and very often the attendance of one or more players. When you bring together not only acclaimed players but the fiftieth anniversity of the famed “Orange Crush” team the success of your event is garranteed. By just after eight that evening fans had filled up the bidding cards and were invited into the dinning area for the “Fan”tastic Dinner. Two films were run while participants began their meals, one documented the amazing people and events of that 1977 Super Bowl season, with with news excerpts and current interviews that included Head Coach Red Miller. The second video showed heroes of a different sort, some not much bigger the a football. Babbies and children and teens who, despite shaved heads and hospital gowns showed the pride, strength and perseverance that is typical of a winning athelete. Co-hosts Vic Lombardi, CBS 4, and Lois Melkonian, News Radio 850 KOA, kept things moving for the first part of the evening, which included a reading of Mayor John Hickenlooper’s proclamation marking March 6th as “Mile High Miracles Day” in Denver, CO. Following the reading of the proclamation, the official doccument was presented to Head Coach Red Miller to add to his personal Denver Bronco collection. The event was billed “Mile High Miracles, A Tribute to the 1977 Denver Bronco Football Team – Denver’s very first Super Bowl Team” but like a football game the real heart and soul of the game is found not on the field but in the background. Michele Ashby rose to the podium and shared, not only her story, but Dani’s story and the story of Dani’s Foundation which lends support children with cancer, and those stats say this includes one in six children in America. Ewing's Sarcoma is a particularly insidious form of cancer in that it first appears as pain in muscles and bones which is often ignored as “growing pain” in children or in the case of Norris Weese as pain associated with the rigors of an athletic career. Dani’s Foundation is dedicated to advancing the global initiative aimed at funding research that will find the cause and cure for Ewing’s Sarcoma and the other forms of Pediatric Sarcomas that are affecting and taking the lives of children and young adults. Jim Saccamano, Vice President of Communications for the Denver Broncos took the stage to highlight the career of 1977 QB Norris Weese. Saccamano outlined an amazing carreer that began in youth and carried through his years with the Denver Broncos Football Team. Saccamano then introduced Norris’ wife Sandy, who traveled from New Orleans to be a part of the Mile High Miracles celebration. Weese took the stage to share her memories from the ’77 season but made an impassioned plea to join in the Campaign to End Ewing’s Sarcoma in memory of her husband who succumbed to the disease in 1995. The Weese family has joined with Dani’s Foundation to establish The Norris Weese Ewing’s Sarcoma Research Fund with the goal of raising much-needed funding for the development of science that will seek to find the cause and the cure for Ewing’s Sarcoma and the other forms of pediatric sarcomas. As Weese spoke, volunteers from the Brighton High School Honor Society walked through the audience and passed out pledge forms to the assembled guests. As the Mayor’s proclamation stated March 6, was and will be Mile High Miracles Day and to kick that off former Denver sportscaster Gary Cruz and event Chairman Jim Jensen gave recognition to players and Coaches who attended – in person and in spirit (Owners Alan and Gerald Phipps, Lyle Alzado, Fred Gehrke, Bernard Jackson, Bobby Mables, Bob Peck, Fran Polsfoot, Paul Smith, Gail Stuckey, Norris Weese and, Tim “The Barrel Man” McKernan.) Each of the key aspects of the 1977 season were recognized starting when the Coaches took the stage (Red Miller, Joe Collier, Marv Braden and Babe Parilli). Next, members of the Orange Crush Defense including Rubin Carter, Bucky Dilts, Steve Foley, Bob Swenson, Billy Thompson, Louie Wright came forward to share their Mile High Memories. Following the defense, members of the 1977 Offensive Unit were announced and Otis Armstrong, Ron Egloff, Tom Glassic, Paul Howard, Glenn Hyde, Jim Jensen, Jon Keyworth, Craig Penrose and John Schultz joined their Craig Morton in sharing many tales from the ’77 season. As many players noted, this was the “biggest reunion of players and coaches for the 1977 Team” since achieving their successes during the Season of Miracles. The original #7 Denver Bronco QB Craig Morton shared his memories and with all the team members present Jon Keyworth rounded out the evening by singing his hit and the anthem of the 1977 season “Make Those Miracles Happen”. 2009 STEPS : Dani’s Foundation, in association with Kroenke Sport Charities, is pleased to announce the initiation of a very special event which will take place on Saturday, September 19, 2009 in downtown Denver. The first annual STEPS (Stride To End Pediatric Sarcoma) Walk officially kicked off a year-long campaign that was designed to raise awareness and funding for the campaign to End Pediatric Sarcoma. Dani’s Foundation was working to raise $250,000 in the next 12 months with the goal of assisting their effort to fund more scientific investigations and research that will seek to find better treatment protocols for all pediatric cancer patients and offer seed grant resources to those researchers who are looking to find the cause and the cure for pediatric sarcomas, those rare forms of cancer that are affecting and taking the lives of children and young adults. The STEPS Walk took place during the month of September. September is designated as National Pediatric Cancer Awareness Month by the United States Congress. “We are hoping that many in the pediatric cancer community will join with us and walk with us on September 19 with the goal of bringing much-needed attention not only to pediatric sarcomas but to all childhood cancers,” explained Dani’s Foundation Founder and President Michele Ashby. “We need everyone working together if we are going to combat these horrific diseases that are affecting and taking the lives of our children and young adults!” Ashby lost her daughter Daniele “Dani” Stell to Ewing’s Sarcoma ten years ago. Since that time, Ashby and others have been working diligently to raise awareness and funding for the Campaign to End Pediatric Sarcoma. “The STEPS Walk is our attempt to generate a Colorado event that will not only bring attention to pediatric sarcomas but will act as a vehicle to unite the pediatric cancer community into one major community event. Ashby and others are genuinely concerned with the national funding cuts in regard to pediatric cancer. “Due to the rarity of these diseases, the government does not allocate the necessary funding to pursue new science for these diseases. This method of operation needs to change and if the government cannot do it, we, as individuals, organizations and industry need to step up to the plate to fund the necessary science,” explained Ashby. “Thus, the STEPS Walk was the initiation of our Foundation’s campaign to End Pediatric Sarcoma. "We hope that this initiative will start in Colorado and, hopefully spread across the nation in the coming year.” Dani’s Foundation will be working, throughout the coming years, with other local and national pediatric sarcoma foundations and organizations in an effort to implement similar campaigns that can generate awareness and fundraising for the campaign to End Pediatric Sarcoma. “We hope to take our message and the STEPS Walks across the country in an organized effort to raise awareness and funding for all pediatric sarcoma organizations,” explained Ashby. 2009 Kiss The Bluz Goodbye : The Kiss the Bluz Goodbye invitation noted that this was to be Denver’s Hottest Party, and finally, Denver’s summer weather proved the invitation correct. The evening was perfect for a party which was staged at the historic City Park Pavilion in Denver. Kiss The Bluz Goodbye was a fitting tribute to the Summer of 2009. The evening’s agenda featured Bluz cocktails and hors d’oeuvres, a silent auction featuring over 100 items, specialty booths providing the opportunity to purchase artwork and designer Gigi Hill handbags and showcased local and national musical entertainment. Adding to the festivities was a special appearance by Jesse Csincsak, the winning bachelor from Season 4 of the hit ABC show “The Bachelorette”. As the event progressed and the social mingling transpired within the auction area, the sights of the party gave way to the magnificence of the sun beginning to set over the Denver skyline. Many guests took to the veranda to marvel at the beauty of City Park and talk of their associations with Dani’s Foundation, a Colorado non profit organization whose mission is to find the cause and the cure for pediatric sarcomas. Many in the crowd shared their personal cancer stories including 95-year-old Gretchen Ricker, a two-time cancer survivor who had donated a knitted Afghan to the event’s auction. Gretchen has knitted over 100 pieces, 50 of which she has donated to various cancer foundations over the years. Former Denver Bronco Jim Jensen was in attendance and told of his survival from sarcoma and16-year-old Maressa McClintock was treated as an honored guest of the event after beating pediatric sarcoma several years ago, a true triumph for the Dani’s Foundation! Dani’s Foundation was established after the death of Daniele “Dani” Stell, a Denver South High student who was diagnosed with Ewing’s Sarcoma eleven years ago. Dani lost her battle to pediatric sarcoma ten years ago and since that time; the foundation named in her memory has been working to change the outcome for future generations. “Ewing’s Sarcoma is a rare pediatric sarcoma that affects and takes the lives of children and young adults,” explained Board member Dr. Staci Sanford. “We are working to raise awareness and funding with the goal of assisting patients with information and resources, working to educate the public on the symptoms of pediatric sarcoma with the goal of seeking earlier detection and ultimate survival and raising financial resources that will help in underwriting science that will assist in developing improved treatment protocols for all cancer patients and funding research that will help to find the cause and the cure for these horrific childhood cancers." Between musical acts, Csincsak presided over a short program with the goal of educating the audience on Dani’s Foundation and recognizing the event sponsors. Martha Simmons, Executive Director of Dani’s Foundation, explained to the audience that “we are still treating Ewing’s Sarcoma the same way we were 10 years ago. This cannot be. Something must change and your support of this evening’s event will bring us closer to providing the funding necessary for the research that is needed to change pediatric cancer treatment protocols for all children diagnosed with cancer.” Simmons asked everyone in attendance to join Dani’s Team and help to make a difference in the days ahead. Johnny Stell followed Simmons to represent in memoriam his sister Dani and his family. “We started this foundation in memory of my sister and now we work for all children diagnosed with pediatric sarcomas. We will not stop until this disease is stopped.” He then thanked the assembled audience for their support of Dani’s Foundation. “You are all making a difference in the world. You are all beautiful.” Event Chair Sharon McNally was then introduced. She had the honor of recognizing those special guests who helped to make Kiss The Bluz a smashing success for Dani’s Foundation. 2009 My Big Greek Roast : "My Big Greek Roast" was the theme of a March 14 event that took place in the West Club Lounge at Invesco Field at Mile High and which paid tribute to an amazing man: Steve “The Greek” Antonopulos and his 33 year career as Athletic Trainer for the Denver Broncos. The evening was sponsored by KOA Radio and members of the Denver Bronco Alumni and was billed as “A Night of Love and Laughter” in recognition of Antonopulos but also raised funding for Dani’s Foundation, a Colorado non-profit organization who is working to find the cause and the cure for Ewing’s Sarcoma and the other pediatric sarcomas that are affecting and taking the lives of children and young adults. Antonopulos, who grew up in Hugo, CO, earned two degrees in sports medicine from the University of Northern Colorado prior to landing his dream job of working with the Denver Broncos in 1976. Since that time, Antonopulos has succeeded in participating in 660 Denver Bronco football games, tended to the health and physical well-being of over 1,500 Denver Bronco players, worked feverishly to get the Denver Bronco players game ready for 8 AFC championship games and 6 Super Bowl match ups and is the proud owner of two Super Bowl Rings. “Steve is ‘the best of the best’”, explained Roast Chairman and former Denver Bronco player Jim Jensen. “Thanks to ‘The Greek’s’ care while I was a member of the team, I can still play golf, tennis and take to the ski slopes every year. Not too bad for an old guy like me!” This event was organized to pay satirical respect to Antonopulos’ career but also served to raise much-needed funding for Dani’s Foundation and their efforts to fund greater programs, education and research with the goal of finding the cause and the cure for Ewing’s Sarcoma and the other forms of pediatric sarcomas that are taking the lives of children and young adults. Dani's Foundation was formed in memory of Dani Stell, an active, bright and social woman who, at the young age of 18, was diagnosed with Ewing's Sarcoma, a rare form of cancer. Dani fought her disease bravely for one year, but sadly succumbed to it in April 1999 at age 19. Dani’s Foundation Founder and President Michele Ashby took the stage prior to the roast program and captivated the guest’s attention as she told the story of her daughter Dani and read excerpts from Dani’s personal journal during her battle against Ewing’s Sarcoma. “Dani fought her disease with dignity and grace but she is no longer with us,” explained Ashby. “This is unacceptable and I need each of you to raise your hand and make a one-year commitment to join Dani’s Foundation in our efforts to find the cause and the cure for Ewing’s Sarcoma and the other pediatric cancers that are taking the lives of those that we love.” The crowd followed Ashby’s lead and all raised their hands – now clad in blue Dani’s Foundation bracelets which were placed at each table setting - in support of Dani’s Foundation. Following Ashby’s appeal, the festivities of the Roast began with short jabs from My Big Greek Roast Hosts: KOA Personality and Denver Bronco Broadcaster Dave Logan and Fox 31 Anchor Ron Zappolo. CBS 4 Sport Anchor Vic Lombardi represented the sport media in roasting Antonopulos and came prepared with a photo from Steve’s grade school years. “Same hairstyle,” quipped Lombardi as a full-haired Antonopulos appeared on the big screen. Other Denver Bronco personnel who joined in on the festivities included Denver Bronco Owner Pat Bowlen and CEO Joe Ellis, who dropped by prior to dinner to congratulate Antolnopulos on the festivities; Larry Brunson, Steve Busick, Keith Burns, Mark Cooper, Bucky Dilts, Ron Egloff, Steve Foley, Jack Gehrke, John Grant, Dale Hackbart, Jim Jensen, Mike Harden, Rich Karlis, Keith Kartz, Claudie Minor, Dave Studdard, Ralph Tamm, Denver Bronco Ring of Fame Member Billy Thompson, Billy Van Huesen, and NFL Hall of Fame Member Gary Zimmerman. Mayor John Hickenlooper could not attend the March 14 Roast but sent a video greeting. Ron Zappolo then read a proclamation from the Mayor proclaiming Saturday, March 14 as “Steve ‘The Greek’ Antonopulos Day in the City and County of Denver. Following the proclamation, former Denver Bronco and Head Coach of the Huston Texans Gary Kubiak’s personal greeting was played on the big screen. The crowd laughed as Kubiak recounted days of keeping the other quarterback (John Elway) healthy so that he (Kubiak) would not have to take the field. Tim “The Barrel Man” McKernan and his wife Becky traveled from their home out of state to make a special appearance at the Roast event. In addition to McKernan, members of the Denver Bronco Cheerleaders and Miles the Mascot were in costumed attendance at the Bud Light cocktail portion of the event. My Big Greek Roast featured a silent auction with over 200 items donated by businesses and organizations from throughout Colorado and the nation, a Greek Feast Dinner provided by Epicurean Catering and the post-dinner roast. All in all, everyone had a wonderful time honoring a great man and a great cause.

2008 Ewing's Sarcoma Medical Forum : Dani's Foundation hosted a Ewing's Medical Forum in July 2008. Participants at this meeting included Ewing's professionals (physicians and researchers), local and national medical professionals and members of the Foundation's Board of Directors. The 2-Day Meeting was developed to updated all on the current state of treatment for Ewing's patients; to discuss research that is currently underway to find a better treatment for Ewing's patients; and to determine how best Dani's Foundation can assist those working to find the cause and the cure for this form of pediatric sarcoma. From this meeting, the Board of Directors worked to develop a revised program of work for the overall mission of the Foundation.

2007 Shake Your Groove Thing : From BlacktieColorado.com Remember Angel Flight suits, platform shoes, pet rocks, tye dye shirts, bell bottoms, even the disco ball? Takes you back, doesn't it? It was all in style on the 16th Street mall in downtown Denver Wednesday night, June 27, and all to help the memory of a special girl named Dani and Dani's Foundation. It was time to put your dancing shoes on, it's a "Disco Party" as Lannie's Clocktower Cabaret turned into a disco nightclub and it was a stone cold groove! The mood rings were changing colors left and right with the beat of the music. When you entered the Cabaret, it had the '70s music playing throughout and the outfits were wild. The staff at Lannie's Clocktower Cabaret had created a special night to remember Dani by. Yes, this house was on fire. The Palomino Restaurant catered a delicious meal. They had a nice buffet table of chef's salad, wings and pasta. The silent auction included handbags, overnight stays to numerous locations throughout Denver and even some street signs that were painted to show the icons of the 1970s - John Travola and the Bee Gees. When the bidding was over it was time for the main event. Lannie Garrett took the stage with her band and the dance floor was full. You could see anything from the Hustle, the Robot and yes, even the California Strut, which was later named the Electric Slide. The party was one to remember. It took the crowd back to the days when you could barely get onto the dance floor at the discos and people were decked out in the Angel Flight suits and everyone was a dancing king or queen. Dani was a very special individual who fought a very valiant and brave battle, but succombed to Ewing’s Sarcoma, a type of cancer that typically affects children and young adults, in 1999. Dani's Foundation was created to raise funds to support the research and development of cancer treatments, both conventional and alternative. 2005 White Party : From BlacktieColorado.com Labor Day is the last weekend to wear white clothes (according to old society fashion rules), so to celebrate, a White Party was held on September 3, 2005 to benefit Dani's Foundation at Milagro Taco Bar. Attendees were asked to dress entirely in white. "This event started as a small party for my friends, but I thought it would be fun to donate our proceeds to a charity," commented event organizer Jim Guttau. "I hope this event will be an annual event and grow each year." Milagro Taco Bar, a new restaurant at 1700 Vine in Denver, donated 100% of the evening's proceeds to the foundation. Attendees also participated in a silent auction which featured Beijo handbags and massage gift certificates. Dani's Foundation was formed in memory of Dani Stell who lost her battle with Ewing's Sarcoma, a form of bone cancer in April of 1999. Her mother, Michele, founded the organization to raise money for teen cancer research.

2005 Purses With A Purpose : From BlacktieColorado.com It’s no question that any woman who appreciates fashion has a handbag collection that rivals that of her closest friends. When friends come together to shop for handbags, it can be a whirlwind experience and when they get together and shop for bags that support a local charity, there are few things that can be more emphatic. The JW Marriott hosted an ultimate purse-shopping extravaganza on April 12,2005 that featured bags from a company called Beijo and supported Dani’s Foundation, both founded by women with a powerful purpose. Michele Ashby’s daughter Dani Stell was a 19 year-old girl who loved fashion and dreamed one day of being a designer. Instead of being a designer, Dani has become an inspiration for kids that suffer from Ewings Sarcoma, a rare form of bone cancer. Dani, who fought the disease with courage humor and energy, passed away in 1999, and Michele formed the foundation that bears her daughter’s name to help find a cure for the disease. The foundation helps fight children’s cancer with both traditional and alternative treatments and raises money for research efforts. Susan Handley, a single mom struggling to make ends meet, decided to take control of her situation and in turn, changed the lives of working women everywhere. She founded Beijo Bags (Beijo means “kiss” in Portuguese). The company allows women to be the boss and own their own companies that distribute the bags she created. Held under a white outdoor tent at the JW Marriott in Cherry Creek North, the Beijo Bags “Color of Inspiration” spring tour was an evening of bags and beauty as local designers joined in to show their newest creations while modeling the purses for the full house. The event came together out of friendship and a love of purses. Ashby, with friend and Beijo Bag distributor Donna Connally decided to take their purse parties one step further and get Denver women involved by shopping for purses with a purpose. “Thanks for shopping and buying purses,” Michele Ashby told the crowd, “this is something my daughter would have loved to do.” Beijo Bag founder Susan Handley was at the event to kick off the new spring line. With sleek lines and understated yet unforgettable colors and shapes, the classic and user-friendly designs, offer a different flavor for women to add to their personal fashion recipe. Proceeds from the event benefited the Children’s Hospital Teen Cancer Clinic and other research projects for pediatric cancers.

2003 Tasting & Toasting : From BlacktieColorado.com Denver Shares shared a spectacular evening with supporters Saturday night at the Sherman Street Event Complex. As guests arrived they were greeted with complimentary champagne and delicious appetizers. The champagne glasses were guest favors that were to be used throughout the night for the wide variety of wine sampling that was available. Fifteen tables contained over 50 rare and vintage wines and the menu included smoked oysters, chicken saltimbocca topped with prosciutto di parma and mozzarella, prime rib, caviar, salmon en croute with roasted red pepper chorone sauce and extraordinary desserts. As guests sampled and tasted, they strolled through the several tables of silent auction items. The top level of the four-floor event was a large dance floor with music by Chris Daniels & the Kings that kept guests entertained all evening. This is the second year for Denver Shares "Toast to Benefit Colorado Charities." Denver Shares is a unique non-profit organization with a unique mission and believes that “Givers Gain” with a mission to give back to the community. Proceeds from the 2nd Annual "Toast to Benefit Colorado Charities" will benefit five Colorado Charities that are carefully selected by volunteers. This year’s charities included: Colorado Coalition for the Homeless, Dani’s Foundation, Denver Children’s Home, Front Range Center for Assault Prevention, and Never Forgotten Fund. Colorado Coalition for the Homeless provides housing and services to prevent homelessness and create lasting solutions for homelessness. Dani’s Foundation purpose is fighting children's cancers and life-threatening diseases while supporting patient care-givers. Denver Children’s Home is the oldest non-profit in Colorado and their mission is to provide a therapeutic, safe place for emotionally distressed children, adolescents and their families to heal and grow. Front Range Center for Assault Prevention uses education in schools and workshops to help prevent child assault. Never Forgotten Fund was established following the Columbine tragedy to help remember the 13 lost by awarding 13 scholarships to exceptional students. These five charities will benefit greatly from the hard work and determination of Denver Shares.

2002 Fashion On Parade : From BlacktieColorado.com The cutting edge of fashion was at the Westin Tabor Center on Saturday night, July 27, 2002. A large crowd attended the third installment of Dani's Fashion for a Cure. In the short period of time that this event has been happening it has gained a national reputation for the talent that is displayed. The event revolves around the work of Colorado's best fashion designers under the age of 25. They compete for prizes including a chance to learn from top designers in the field. New this year was the advent of the People's Choice Award. This allowed people to vote on their favorite design by pledging $10 for each vote. This was fun and profitable! Also new were the pictures from the Children's Legacy Collection and the African Dancers and Musicians. Dani's Foundation is a labor of love for the family and friends of Danielle (Dani) Stell. Dani died in 1999 at the age of 19 of Ewing's Sarcoma. Since Dani was interested in fashion, the family decided to combine the best of youth, fashion and fighting cancer to present this one of a kind event. The event captures the fancy of those in the know of fashion, music and fun. At the same time it also presents one of the larger silent auctions to be found in the city.

2001 White House Party : From BlacktieColorado.com Dani's Foundation, a newcomer to the Denver nonprofit scene, scored big Dec. 11 when another Denver newcomer donated 5 percent of its opening-night sales to the charity. White House Black Market was packed with holiday shoppers and Dani's Foundation supporters on opening night. It was a chilly evening, the catering staff was busy pouring bubbly, and the crowd was in a buying mood. Watching the action unfold from the middle of the store was Michelle Ashby, who started Dani's Foundation after her 19-year-old daughter died of cancer in 1999. Dani was a South High School graduate and a student at the University of Colorado at Denver. Her dream was to become a fashion designer. In her memory, her mother started Dani's Foundation to raise money for pediatric cancer research. White House Black Market carries women's clothing and accessories in only two colors -- black and white. The elegant new store is one of 85 across the county, with home offices in Baltimore. Denver-Littleton area shoppers were delighted with the monochromatic concept. One said that black and winter white are the only colors in her wardrobe, and finding a store that specializes in them would make her life easier. Shoppers certainly ogled, sized up, squeezed, tried on and eventually purchased many items that night. Two good causes -- Dani's Foundation and holiday shopping -- were well served.

Hip to fashion and hip to the cause of helping to fight pediatric cancer in the memory of Dani Stell. Dani lost her battle with cancer in April of 1999. Her mother, Michelle Ashby has organized several events in Dani's memory. Since Dani's unrealized goal was to be come a fashion designer, having a fasion show was a natural. About 500 people crowded the Westin Tabor Center to be treated to a fabulous Silent Auction (top prize a trip for 2 to London), entertainment featuring young singing sensation Melissa Lujan and the Cleo Parker Robinson Dance Troupe. The highlight of the evening was a fashion show featuring fresh designs by 9 designers, all under the age of 25! These designs were cutting edge and sensational! First prize was taken by Ashley Fallon Reed. Ashley will go to New York to spend a day with famous designer, Norma Kamali, and receive a tour of POLO Ralph Lauren. Pup Underwood took 2nd place with his sporty designs. Fashion Judges included: Anne Trujillo from Channel 7, Thesea Marchetta, Channel 4, Ann Mclain, Neiman Marcus, Amber Feltman, EVE Fashions, Suzanne Brown, Denver Post, and Jo Myers, KOSI. Burt Stewart of Patron Tequila donated $20,000 to Dani's Foundation. Overall the event raised about $60,000.00.
